What store do you get when you throw in a bit of Gordmans, Hobby Lobby, Target, Walgreens, Michaels, Kmart, Walmart, Menards and the Family Dollar Store?? If you are still puzzling over that question then you obviously haven’t been to the new Big Lots! in West Fargo yet! I LOVE, LOVE, LOVE the new Big Lots! and I suspect I will be one of the first West Fargo Buzz Club members to get my first 20% discount (spend $20 or more in 10 visits within a 12 month period) .
I went there last night after work and was beside myself – yes…beside myself – with delight (I was even more delighted than when I was hot and wet!). I wish I had the time to explain to you the multitude of reasons this is my new favorite store, but if I spend an hour doing that I won’t have time to visit the store again today. I will, however, share my two favorite highlights from my first visit to Big Lots! last night.
The first involved two older gentlemen trying out all the recliners on display for the right fit. They were adorable in there amongst the upholstered furniture section comparing recliner features and comfort. And yes, you read that right, this store features an eclectic selection of lower-priced furniture offerings – to include fireplaces. A note though to my most savvy shopping friends – wait until you have your 20% off reward to buy the really big items on your list.
The other thing I got a good giggle about while visiting the store last night was a decorative sign that reminded me so much of my friend Tam (also referred to on occasion in this blog as “Lucy”). The sign read, “TGIF – Thank God I’m Fabulous!”
TGIF indeed…and that not only applies to Tam, but also to the new Big Lots! store itself…F-A-B-U-L-O-U-S!!!!
The store’s grand opening is Friday, November 5 at 9 AM…yep, I am pretty sure I’ll be there…perhaps I’ll go give those recliners a try.

i understand how happy u are about the new big lots but lets not forget what they did to fargo many years ago when they first had a store here in the now savers spot.
it went down like this they bought jobs and a great store to the fm area then 2 years in to a five yr lease they went kaput no notice 7 day sale and they were gone many folks were left to hang out to dry they hurt a lot of folks here so be careful what u wish for yes big lots is a good store but how long will they last this time and how many employees will get hurt this time when fargo is starting to crumble and homeless is on the rise can we trust them this time -scott
