Oh my – really? From my interests, likes, marital status and age they came up with senior singles…I find that disheartening. But truly the thing that struck me as more worthy of comment is not the senior label or the distinguished looking older cowboy (yes, it is true – I am letting both those topics slide by today) – it was the tag line that took me down the path – Faithful Companion Wanted.
Is he searching for a mate or is he searching for Lassie? Oh, and for you young folks out there, my new favorite painter BFF Karen tells me that I need to explain that Lassie was an incredible dog (and screen star) that always saved the day and that was on television way back in the day (which might in-and-of-itself suggest I am in the senior dating solicitation range).
Anyway – the point is – faithful companion…you can’t do better than that distinguished looking older cowboy? Sorry my friend about all you will get with that line is a Lassie facsimile and somehow I suspect that isn’t exactly what you are looking for.
Who even uses that term anymore? It reminds me of my youth and other faithful companions like Rin Tin Tin and Tonto. And again, for clarification Rin Tin Tin was a dog star like Lassie and Tonto was the Lone Ranger’s faithful companion – a native American man. Which reminds me of a question I have long had in my head…do you think that the Lone Ranger and Tonto were the first gay couple on television? If we look at the ad above it would suggest that faithful companion means different things to different people. Tonto certainly was pretty darn faithful as a companion and the Lone Ranger was always so well-groomed for a cowboy – it has always caused me to wonder.
Ah, but I digress as usual…a word to the senior daters out there in the world…if you want a real date choose your tag line carefully – and note that faithful companion may not net what you are hoping for. That is unless you are just looking for someone to help rescue Timmy from the well…then by all means carry-on. 😉
