Brand new…

Welcome to the brand new year – 2012.  If you are in the new forty you realize that 2012 is the future you heard about as a child that was going to be Jetson-like (as in – meet George Jetson, his boy Elroy, daughter Judy, Jane, his wife).  Heck, if you are in the new forty you remember the day when partying like it was 1999 seemed far off (especially in the early eighties when the song came out).  Now we are 14 years beyond 1999 and facing the Mayan propehcy that the world will end before we get to 2013.

Well, there are only two ways to handle the news that the world will end at year’s end – assume it is nonsense and completely discard the prophecy; or, party like it is 2012 (which looks a lot like the partying from 1999 except with different hairdos and outfits). ;-)

So enjoy the brand new year – the FUTURE – 2012.   And remember, someday in the not too distant future, folks will look back at 2012 as a bygone era and your reminisces of this period will be viewed as “charming” and “historical” – oh yes, tis’ true.  I know this as I lived it – I partied like it was 1999 and now I’ll party like it is 2012.   Please do note though that I intend to be around for a few more decades to talk about how I partied in 2012.  Sorry Mayans, maybe if you were Prince I’d be a bigger believer in your prophecy.  ;-)

Happy New Year all!

About Ms. C

I teach at NDSU...but I remain a student of life with all the enthusiasm that entails. My favorite saying is, "Sometimes you have to take the leap and build your wings on the way down." In the new forty that is what I am doing...building my wings.
