A caterpillar spotting…

I have to once again give props (a.k.a. my proper respect) to the folks who live at the house on the corner of 11th Avenue and Sheyenne Street in West Fargo.  The last time I wrote about them it was in regard to their joyous snowman.  Today as I was driving home I noted a new snow creation – a snow caterpillar.  And when I say caterpillar I mean the insect, not the machinery or company that creates it.

I must admit that I haven’t seen many snow caterpillars – indeed, I can’t ever recall seeing a snow caterpillar until today.  But even with my limited snow caterpillar exposure I have to say that the West Fargo snow caterpillar was pretty darn cute (at least as far as snow caterpillars go).

I have no idea who lives at that house on the corner, but I hope that they will see this blog as I want them to know that I appreciate their effort.  I smiled the moment I saw the big guy out on the lawn.  I think that there is something quite gracious in efforts unselfishly put forth – efforts that bring a bit of joy to the day of those who have the opportunity to experience it.  The snow caterpillar is such an effort.

Thank you for the smile folks and for the more subtle reminder that spring is just around the corner! ;-)

I teach at NDSU...but I remain a student of life with all the enthusiasm that entails. My favorite saying is, "Sometimes you have to take the leap and build your wings on the way down." In the new forty that is what I am doing...building my wings.

I’ll be in Fargo tomorrow, so I am going to make a point of seeing this snow catepillar! It may be a once in a lifetime opportunity. I understand they are quite rare. Thanks for the heads up on an impending moment of joy.
