Don’t flash the octopus…

If you travel to the Central Coast of California you will want to visit the Monterey Bay Aquarium.  It really is a great family outing.  Even though fish and sea life are not my favorite creatures, I remain in awe of the diversity of life that exists in the oceans, lakes and streams.

The aquarium is a magnificent visual experience.  I could have spent hours there, but Cheyenne’s patience faded and there went my happy time with the sharks (go figure).  Now we are back at the beach house and have the whole gang here with us – all the kids; my brother, his wife and baby Rita; my ex-hubby and his wife; and, me and Mike.  So I share with you today this one moment at the aquarium that I found endlessly amusing.  I wish I could post photos, but for some reason the ability to post photos is beyond me in the beach house.  So I will leave you with the words on the sign that hangs above the octopus display: Don’t flash the octopus.

Thank goodness there was a sign.  Heaven knows what I would have done without the concise prohibition against flashing. There may have been one emotionally and psychologically scarred octopus. ;-)

I teach at NDSU...but I remain a student of life with all the enthusiasm that entails. My favorite saying is, "Sometimes you have to take the leap and build your wings on the way down." In the new forty that is what I am doing...building my wings.

Yesterday I was determined to have a long overdue Snarky Day to get some festering annoyances dealt with–and the mental picture of you flashing the octopus came at just the perfect time. I was afraid that my crab mood had gotten stuck! ROFL :D
