The return of Miss Sparkle…

Miss Sparkle returned home today.  She spends the bulk of her summer with her dad.  Toward summer’s end she gets pretty excited to come home; and, we (the rest of the family) are all pretty excited for her to come home.  The house is awfully quiet when she is gone.  You see, Miss Sparkle is a talker.

Miss Sparkle (a.k.a. Cheyenne) was incredibly shy and quiet when she was younger, but with every passing year her personality and voice grow stronger.  At the age of 13, she seems to  always have an opinion and something to say.  Her ability to go on and on often drives her brother Noah crazy.  His tolerance for non-stop chatter is fairly low.  The rest of us have adjusted over the years to the increased communication.

After a summer of relative silence it is nice to have Miss Sparkle and her chatter back.  Silence isn’t always golden and it definitely doesn’t sparkle. ;-)

About Ms. C

I teach at NDSU...but I remain a student of life with all the enthusiasm that entails. My favorite saying is, "Sometimes you have to take the leap and build your wings on the way down." In the new forty that is what I am doing...building my wings.

Over the years I’ve been amazed time and again by the nuggets of ancient and true wisdom that pop out of the mouths of kids when their “thinking out loud” could seem to just be mindless chatter. After reading Miss Sparkle’s declaration of who she is, there are likely to be some real gems from time to time. My Grandma told me that there’s an angel, a genius and a clown in everybody and that I should always listen respectfully–or I’d miss them when they came out. And she was so right!

I remember when I was looking forward to Kendra learning how to talk… Now, at 4, she never shuts up! lol
