I know I am behind the curve when it comes to the new season of The Voice. Thankfully my DVR keeps all my favorite shows for me until I have time to watch them. Tonight I finally had a chance to catch up on the first episode of The Voice and I was reminded of all the reasons I enjoy that show so much.
Easily my favorite part of the show is the way the judges and host treat the contestants. They cheer them on even when they do not make it on a team. They do not feel a need to decimate them or degrade them. It is all about positivity.
I also really appreciate the diversity of the singers who come to the show – and I mean diversity in all senses of the word. On The Voice different is not only considered to be a good thing, it is embraced as a great thing. That resonates with me.
Finally, I love the rapport between the judges. The obvious friendships, the good-natured ribbing, and the honesty in their dialogue make me want to watch every minute of the show.
I have a few more episodes of The Voice on the DVR to catch up on, but now that I remember how much I enjoy it I surmise I will catch up quickly. If you haven’t caught The Voice yet, I encourage you to watch an episode or two. It will leave you smiling – inside and out.
