The power of chili…

I want to encourage folks in the Fargo-Moorhead area to attend the FM Sheltering Churches Project First Annual Community Chili Cook-off this Saturday from 11-2 at the Family Wellness Center in Fargo (2960 Seter Parkway).  The goal of this event is raise awareness about the homeless epidemic  in the area and to raise funds for overflow sheltering that area churches have been providing.  There will be chili, door prizes, and some healthy competition amongst local businesses and organizations who are participating.

I will be there with a team of my students representing NDSU’s Department of Emergency Management.  Happily, I am not the chili cook on our team so we have a prayer of being competitive.  But true to form – we will ratchet it up a notch and we hope to help the FM Sheltering Churches Project make its First Annual Community Chili Cook-off  a big success.

The press release below provides more information about the event and the state of homelessness in this area.  There are a lot of good folks who have been doing a lot of good work to help address the needs in our community. Please come out and help support their efforts…and by all means, come by and see us at the NDSU table. ;-)

About Ms. C

I teach at NDSU...but I remain a student of life with all the enthusiasm that entails. My favorite saying is, "Sometimes you have to take the leap and build your wings on the way down." In the new forty that is what I am doing...building my wings.
