I’ll Be Wearing Taylor Markel…

If I ever go to a major award show that has a red carpet for me to strut down, I am wearing a dress designed by Taylor Markel.  Taylor is one of the designers in the Passion for Green Fashion competition being sponsored by West Acres Mall.  Taylor’s entry in the competition – which I love – is displayed with a whole host of other entries in the Center Court at West Acres until April 28th in honor of Earth Month.  You can also find all the entries in this great competition on the West Acres Facebook page.

All the clothing in the competition is made out of recycled items.  The designs are very creative and in some instances (in my humble opinion) red carpet worthy.  Taylor’s entry is comprised of tissue paper, tin foil, brown packing paper, packing tape, wrapping paper, garbage bags, metal washers, pink cupcake holders, glue, and balloons. Taylor describes her design as follows:”Exciting ballerina-like piece. Bringing in a fresh, vamped, new look for Spring 2013! I want to grab your attention and to knock your socks off with such a fun, energetic look!”

I LOVE IT!  I find it to be sweet, sassy, and whimsical all at the same time.  I would wear this design.  Please disregard whether this would be age appropriate for me or not – sometimes you just have to wear what makes you happy.  This dress screams happy…and frolic…and fun…and fearless!

I do really like a number of the other designs, but none as much as Taylor’s design.  See my runner-ups below, or better yet – go check the whole wild collection out live and in-person at the mall.

I don’t know if this is the first year that West Acres has run this competition, or whether it is a tried and true Earth Month tradition.  I never heard about it before this year; but, now that I know about it I’ll be watching for it year-in and year-out.  Great idea West Acres, and fabulous design Taylor Markel!  I’ll call you when my time on the red carpet arrives. 😉

WOW!! That white gown is especially gorgeous! What a great idea for a fashion expo! (Sure beats the heck out of Lady Gaga’s meat dress.)
