What are you doing for dinner tonight?

I would like to encourage all area residents to come out to the Gilbert C Grafton American Legion Post #2 in Fargo (a.k.a. The Pickled Parrot – 505 3rd Ave N ) this evening between 5 and 9 PM for a benefit event being held in support of North Dakota National Guard soldier Luke Gaukler.

Luke was recently diagnosed with Astrocytoma – a brain tumor.  He has a strong faith and wants to share his journey while asking for prayers.  The event has been organized by a couple of local American Legion posts and by Military Ovation and will feature a free will dinner that is being sponsored by The Olive Garden, a silent auction, and a raffle.

NDSU’s American Legion post is one of the partners in this event (I am their NDSU student organization advisor – a position I begged for) and they put a tremendous amount of effort into organizing this benefit.  I will be out supporting their efforts and Luke this evening at the benefit. And so I ask, what are you doing for dinner tonight?

Please do come out and show Luke some support by having some good food, bidding on some great auction items, and visiting with local military members and veterans in attendance.  This is, after all, the type of thing that North Dakota does best – supporting its own.  Luke needs your support tonight – come out between 5 and 9 and show this young man that this community is here for him. ;-)

About Ms. C

I teach at NDSU...but I remain a student of life with all the enthusiasm that entails. My favorite saying is, "Sometimes you have to take the leap and build your wings on the way down." In the new forty that is what I am doing...building my wings.
