Tonight I am grateful…

I don’t have the energy to say much today.  Some days just kick your butt.  This was one of those days for me.  The day went from bad to worse and then back to better, but now I am about as tired as a person can be.  Hence, The New Forty will be uncharacteristically short tonight and I will share more details of our final vacation day tomorrow – the good, the bad, and the ugly.

Tonight I share only this – that I am grateful that all our family members got through a frightening accident today in Ontario, Canada. I will not soon forget the stretch I traversed between where we parked on the shoulder and where the car holding Dusty, Sarah, Lennon, and Cheyenne sat…you’d be amazed how many prayers a mother can say in a short period of time.  A very scary experience indeed.

Day one thousand four hundred and sixty-six of the new forty – obla di obla da

I teach at NDSU...but I remain a student of life with all the enthusiasm that entails. My favorite saying is, "Sometimes you have to take the leap and build your wings on the way down." In the new forty that is what I am doing...building my wings.

After that emotional rollercoaster you can probably use another vacation–to kick back, relax and do a lot of hugging.

Man, you should have seen them kicking edgar allan poe. Little darling, the smiles returning to the faces, Little darling, it seems like years since it’s been here. Here comes the sun, here comes the sun. And I say it’s all right. All’s well that ends well.
