Sisters Sojourn

While chatting with Nancy Thomasson at the Inn at Maple Crossing I learned of an event called Sisters Sojourn being held in Mentor, Minnesota on September 13th and 14th.  As I understand it, this event has been going on for a few years now and is all about nurturing the souls of women through knowledge, creativity, restfulness, and play.  Nancy did not have to chat with me long to conclude that this was my type of event. Go figure. ;-)

The cost to participate in this event is incredibly reasonable - only $55 for the two day event.  For that participants get to attend a series of workshops (I will list those below), speakers, concerts, and mixers – a steal of a deal indeed.  And all of this is in the company of women who will share their knowledge, talents, experiences, and gifts in an effort to nurture other women’s knowledge, talents, experiences, and gifts.  What’s not to love??!!

I encourage you to check out the webpage for this event here – you can register online.  I am presently trying to do some rearranging in my schedule so that I can attend and enjoy this event for the first time.  I checked with the organizers of the event to see if it was something I can bring my 14 year old daughter to and the response was a resounding, “YES!”  I think this would be a great opportunity for Cheyenne to experience the power of the sisterhood.  I would encourage mothers of teen girls to do the same.  One is never too young to become a fierce girl.

Check out the event schedule and offered workshops below – you will see many familiar names and lots of great options to choose from.  Indeed, you will may be hardpressed to pick just four.

What a splendid idea this is! And I knew nothing about its existence–pretty much in my own backyard. I know some of the presenters–wonderful women! If I were younger I’d be signing up. :)

  2. tim haering says:

I don’t know any of the presenters. Not surprising. This has the potential to be a phenomenal spiritual awakening or a local PBS fundraising auction. I’m hearing TS Garp – “Energy begets energy.” You may get out what you put in. Light your fire and burn, baby, burn! “If you give little more than you’re askin’ for, your love will turn the key.”

  3. tim haering says:

    I forgot this part:
“Sisters are doin’ it for themselves
Standin’ on their own two feet and ringin’ on their own bells.”

PLay yer guitar just like yer ringin a bell, yeah go, go Janie go!

Since it’s inception I have attended Sisters Sojourn and must say it has been amazing to see the full spirited, enthusiastic ladies share their creative talents, their exhuberant energies and their incredible stories. I have gifted my sister with the 2013 Sojourn and we are anticipating a most relaxing and exhilaring experience coming to Mentor soon. Jo and Bonnie do an excellent job of preparing, hosting and collaborating in this unique adventure for all who participate as presentors and the many woman who participate as attendees. It’s soulful, it’s uplifting, it’s fun and invigorating for the body, mind and spirit. An incredible opportunity for all to grow in the Joys that life has to offer through the arts, music and creativity of sisterhood.
