I have a soft spot for creatures. I want them to have good lives in loving homes. This applies to all creatures, even the ones that I would not personally have as pets (yes, reptiles and amphibians, I am talking about you).
The FM Humane Society has a plea on its Facebook page today for foster or forever homes for five cats in the local pound. The FM Humane Society has been successful in not allowing any adoptable cats to be euthanized for one and a half years. That is a noteworthy accomplishment. The Humane Society is not alone in its efforts, 4 Luv of Dog Rescue, and Cats Cradle (among others) have also saved and adopted out hundreds of animals over the years.
The five cats, like the other cats and dogs on the Humane Society’s Facebook and webpage, are just waiting for someone to love. Someone who will love them in the same unconditional way that they give love. Surely, there are folks out there with some extra love to go around – folks who are ready to make a commitment to start or expand their furry family.
For those who have not experienced pet ownership before, let me tell you – there is nothing quite like the love of a pet. It is true, pure, and uncomplicated. In my lifetime, I have watched some of the most seemingly hardened hearts melt over the sincere affection a pet offers. There is an intrinsic value in giving and receiving love, and love given to a pet is always returned tenfold.
If you have extra love to go around, please go to the Humane Society’s webpage, 4 Luv of Dog Rescue’s webpage, Cat’s Cradle or any other local pet adoption website today and take a look at some of those sweet faces just waiting for a person to love.
