I saw a shirt the other day that read, “You may not have lost all your marbles, but there is definitely a hole in the bag.”
My goodness, I resemble that remark. These days my marble bag definitely has a hole. Indeed, I am not sure my marble bag was ever full.
That is not to say I haven’t had some really good marbles in my bag at one time or another. I have had some beauties, true treasures that have allowed me to do many things. But stress, limited gray matter, and aging have widened the hole in my marble bag and some days I wonder if I am down to my last few.
But marbles are a curious thing. They can be won back if one understands and follows the rules of the game. The marble bag can be refilled.
The trouble is so few folks afford themselves the luxury to get back their marbles. To do so one has to give their brain a break and spend time selfishly doing what the heart desires. Whether that is quiet reflection, fun and frolic, or something else, the point is to step toward that which brings you joy and refreshes you. Because the brain grows weary and can only handle high levels of strain for so long before it becomes comprised. And the older you get the more wearing such strain is, which is why the older you are the more likely you are to note the hole in your marble bag.
Let’s face it, no one wants to lose their marbles. Especially the real cool ones that help us be who we uniquely are. Take the time to refill your marble bag regularly. See what treasures you can collect along the way. 🙂
