Updates from The New Forty

September 12, 2010

As we barrel into what promises to be an intense political season I should note what regular readers may have already noticed about The New Forty – I avoid political debates on this blog.  Not that I don’t have opinions or leanings.  I will often write about the things I believe in or support from a human platform as opposed to one that requires me to pick a side of the aisle.  I do want to say one thing though at this juncture to allow those who read my blog to understand me better – I am an issue voter not a party loyalist.  By that I mean I vote based on my review of the facts related to issues and my assessment of what is the right position to take.  I do the same thing in supporting candidates.  I am not a fan of stepping in-line on party platforms – I like to do my thinking myself and use my vote to evidence the highest level of potency based on my intelligence, integrity and commitment to democracy.

I am fully aware that not everyone is like me (thank the heavens for that) and I do not feel a need to comment on, belittle or favor others’ approaches to politics…I just want to share with you mine.  So, don’t expect to see big debates in The New Forty about the folks running for office or the things they are for or against.  Absent something that turns my axle 360 degrees I can’t imagine you’ll hear much from this corner of the world…but you will see me at the voting booth – I let my vote speak for me.

I have learned how to better navigate the new platform over the past few weeks and it seems like all the bugs are now worked out.  Thank you for your patience as the Area Voices folks have made this transition.  I so sincerely appreciate your  support.  Since it seems that the technical issues are resolved I will use this page into the future for occasional updates on other matters.  Stay tuned. ;-)

Regarding comments…

I am still waiting to find out if old comments will be migrated, but I have good news on “new” comments.  You do not need to register to comment (unless you want to),  but you will need to supply your name and an email address.   Many of the folks that comment on my blog are regular readers so know that once I approve one of your comments future comments should post automatically without further approval.

Thanks for your patience as all the Area Voices bloggers try and make their way through this process.  :-)

Greetings all!

My blog has been migrated to this new site. There are a lot of changes to deal with and I think it will take a few weeks to get fully acclimated to the new format.  I hope you will bear with me as I get my bearings. ;-)

I’m afraid it may take me more than a few weeks to even begin to get this figured out!

I do not know if 50-is-the-new-40, but I know for sure that 40-is-the-new-30. I see it every day, and unfortunately it is peoples’ BMI, not their age. *Sigh*
